Christianity is Christ

Christianity is not a creed, nor a doctrine, nor a religion; it is fundamentally a person. and that person is Jesus Christ.  You can have Buddhism without Buddha; Islam without Mohammed; but there is no Christianity without Christ-He is Christianity, and this fact pervades the whole of scripture.  He is the subject of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation and in all sections of the book-Luke 24v27 and 44-45.  Without Christ there is no existence of anything-John 1v3; apart from Him even disciples can do nothing-John 15v5; apart from Him the human race is doomed-John 3v36.  He is the founder, the centre and the circumference of Christianity.  The phrase "in Christ", or "in Him" is used hundreds of times in the New Testament, and separates the saved from the lost.  In the great epistle about the church-Ephesians, this is found 27 times.  The whole world is divided into two groups, those in Christ, and those not; it really is as fundamental as that.  It is a similar distinction to the Old Testament "righteous" and "lawless"; "wise" and "foolish".  The issues are huge, they involve eternal destinies, and they are all decided in Christ.

Jesus Himself said "I am the way, the truth and the life"-John 14v6

Peter said of Him, "Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved."  Pretty comprehensive isn't it?

Philip interpreted Isaiah 53 as referring to Jesus-Acts 8v35

Paul preached Jesus and the resurrection-Acts 17v18

He is alive and holds the keys of hell and death-Revelation 1v18.  Death holds the bodies and hades(hell) the souls of men, and He decides their eternal destiny.

Only Christ is universally worshipped-Revelation 5

Only Christ will judge the living and the dead-2nd Timothy 4v1

Only Christ will rule the world in righteousness-2nd Peter 3v13

Only Christ will break down all rebellion-Psalm 2v8-9

Kings of the earth, judges of the earth, be wise..."Serve the Lord with fear and trembling, and rejoice with trembling.  Kiss the Son lest ye perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little.  Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him-Psalm 2v10-12.
